I was doing a painting of a skull in Photoshop the other day. I was about oh, six hours in or so and it was looking great. I was happy with the results, happy with the process, enjoying the exploration of it all.
I'd saved my work every few minutes or so, which is my habit. Then what should happen? My computer overheated and shut down. When I restarted everything, the painting came up as a solid black square. The file had been corrupted.
I asked smarter people than me how to get it back, but there's no getting it back. Lesson learned: save AND back up. Oh well. I learned that I can paint in Ps and get good results, even if nobody got to see them. Also, I need to upgrade my hardware.
Onward and upward.
